Chapter 14 Journal.

Hagrid seems to be very attached to Norbert. Consider the description of Hagrid’s behaviour in Chapter 14 and explain what we can learn about Hagrid as a person through his relationship with his pet. Have you ever met anyone who is a “little crazy” over his/her pet?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

Hagrid is very attatched to Norbert. In the story Hagrid says “Isn’t he beautiful?” We can learn that Hagrid is really attached to the dragon and he really likes the dragon a lot. Hagrid would do anything for his pet dragon. I have also met someone who is a little crazy for there animal. It is my mother. She is in love with your dog. She buys it everything, and always tells him how cute he is. My mom would be so upset if our dog left.

Chapter Twelve: Minor Novel Assignment.

          In the story Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Harry had never had a better Christmas in his life then what he had at Hogwarts. I the story it says “Harry had never in all his life had such a Christmas dinner” (ROWLING 149). Harry also talks about all the food he ate for his Christmas dinner. It says “A hundred fat, roast turkeys; mountains of roast and boiled potatoes; platters of chipolatas; tureens of buttered peas, silver boats of thick, rich gravy and cranberry sauce -- and stacks of wizard crackers every few feet along the table.” (149) Lastly in the story Harry talks about how much fun he was having and all the good times, it says “Harry pulled a wizard cracker with Fred and it didn't just bang, it went off with a blast like a cannon and engulfed them all in a cloud of blue smoke, while from the inside exploded a rear admiral's hat and several live, white mice.” (149) Therefore in the story this is why Harry Potter had the best Christmas he’s ever had.

Chapter 11 Journal

Of all the characters, which would you most likely choose as a friend? Give at least three reasons for your choice.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Of all the characters I would most likely choose Hagrid as a friend. I would choose Hagrid because in the story they talk about how they trust Hagrid with there life. So I would know that I would be able to trust Hagrid. Hagrid is also very caring in the story. When it was Harrys birthday he brought him to go get his uniform and other supplies that he needed for Hogwarts. Another reason I would want Hagrid as my friend is because he is very big and scary looking. So if someone was trying to hurt me I know that Hagrid would be able to protect me. This is why I would want Hagrid as my friend.

Chaper 9 Journal.

Who does Harry dislike more: Dudley Dursley or Draco Malfoy? Why? Explain your answer with at least 3 reasons.   

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             I think that Harry dislikes Draco Malfoy more then Dursley or Dudley because in the story Malfoy is especially competitive when they were playing Quidditch. Malfoy is also a threat to Harry because all the attention used to be on Malfoy before Harry came. Malfoy also used to be the best Quidditch player in Hogwarts but when Harry came he then became the best player. Harry also raises his voice with Malfoy and says ‘” Give it here!”’. Also when Harry got a new broom Draco Malfoy was not very happy about that so there was competition. This is why I think that Harry dislikes Malfoy more then Dudley or Dursley.

Chapter 7 Journal:

What does Harry dream about on his first night at Hogwarts? Examine the description of the dream on page 97 and summarize the most important parts of this dream. What do you think the dream means?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          The first night at Hogwarts Harry dreamed he was wearing Professor Quirrell’s turban, which kept talking to him and telling him he must transfer to Slytherin because it was his destiny. Harry told him that he did not want to be in Slytherin, but it got heavier and heavier. When Harry tried to pull away it got tighter. I think that the dream means that Harry is wanted at Slytherin and he needs to move.
